Academic recognition and grade conversion
EU/ EEA students
Holders of foreign qualifications can be accepted to the state-funded study places in Lithuanian higher education institutions or claim for scholarships in accordance with the procedures established by the applicable legislation in cases if they are citizens of or other member countries of the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) and their family members orHolders of foreign qualifications willing to study at Lithuanian higher education institutions must:
1. Contact the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (SKVC) regarding academic recognition of foreign qualifications (Academic recognition is not required: European Baccalaureate Diploma Holders; since 2019 graduated qualifications in Latvia Atestāts par vispārējo vidējo izglītību or Diploms par profesionālo vidējo izglītību; since 2019 graduated qualifications in Estonia Gümnaasiumi lõputunnistus or Kutsekeskhariduse lõputunnistus) and regarding grades conversion and evaluation of study subjects (SKVC contacts: A. Goštauto g. 12, Vilnius, phone +370 5 210 4772, e-mail skvc@skvc.lt);
2. Pass the Lithuanian language test (if selected studies are conducted in Lithuanian and if the person has no proven record of language knowledge issued by competent authority);
3. Complete the online application;
4. Pass the entrance examinations (if required for selected study programmes);
5. Enclose to your application the copies of document before deadline.
The procedures for the competition to the state-funded study places for foreign qualification holders are approved by the Order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania No. V-932 “On the approval of the description of the procedures for the competition of foreign qualification holders to the state-funded study places” of 19 June 2020 (https://www.e-tar.lt/portal/lt/legalAct/3a74d240d31411e68d79c2033f194657).

Diaspora
Holders of foreign qualifications can be accepted to the state-funded study places in Lithuanian higher education institutions or claim for scholarships in accordance with the procedures established by the applicable legislation if they are Lithuanian nationals residing abroad, who reside or have resided abroad.
1. Apply to LAMA BPO information system
Foreigners and stateless persons who have the right to live permanently or temporarily in the Republic of Lithuania, who have obtained secondary education according to the Lithuanian secondary education program and are studying according to the short, first-cycle or integrated study program, have the right to apply for a state-financed study place.
European Baccalaureate Diploma Holders
The applicant has to contact the SKVC regarding grades conversion and evaluation of study subjects. Academic recognition of the European Baccalaureate is not required. According to the Convention defining the Statute of the European Schools, ratified by the Republic of Lithuania in 2004, the holders of the European Baccalaureate are entitled to seek admission to any university in the territory of any Member State on the same terms as nationals of that Member State with equivalent qualifications. International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma holders
The applicant has to contact the SKVC regarding the academic recognition of International Baccalaureate. Grades conversion and evaluation of study subjects are not required.
The equivalents of study subjects and grades of International Baccalaureate are determined by the Order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania No. V-932 “On the approval of the description of the procedures for the competition of foreign qualification holders to the state-funded study places” of 19 June 2020. This is set out in Appendices 1 and 2.
Appendix 1 of the description applies to persons who have completed the international baccalaureate diploma program before 2021 with credits;
Appendix 2 of the description applies to individuals who have completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma program in 2022 and beyond.
The equivalents of study subjects and grades are determined by the Association of Lithuanian Higher Education Institutions (LAMA BPO). In order to study in Lithuania you need:

National visa (D) is a visa allowing an foreigner to enter the Republic of Lithuania and stay in it for a period longer than 90 days. A single entry national visa shall be issued to an foreigner who has been granted a temporary or permanent residence permit in the Republic of Lithuania. A multiple entry national visa shall be issued to an foreigner whose purpose of entry into the Republic of Lithuania is long term stay in the Republic of Lithuania. Temporary Residence Permit is a document granting an foreigner the right to temporary reside in the Republic of Lithuania for a period specified in the permit. You must apply for National visa (D) before you come to Lithuania and for Temporary Residence Permit after you arrive.
You can apply for the visa at a visa centre or embassy of the Republic of Lithuania. If there is no legal representation of the Republic of Lithuania in your country, you will have to travel elsewhere, where the Republic of Lithuania is legally represented: (žr. http://studyin.lt/faq/)

State funded studies
EU/ EEA students, diaspora with secondary education in foreign institutions or according to the educational programs of international organizations or persons who have acquired an education (qualification) equivalent to it shall be admitted to the state-funded study places or study scholarships.
None state funded studies
Non EU students shall be admitted to the non-state funded study places.

Fees
All admission operations through the LAMA BPO information system are free of charge.
Institutions of higher education charge a registration fee set by them for the processing of admission documents concluding study agreements.
